Hi....I have a weird problem...To make a long story short yesterday I was driving my ford bronco on the freeway and all of a sudden with no warning at all it just shut off in the fast lane...the radio and lights worked still but nothing else so I had to have it towed...and later on I then took my 96 escort and headed the same direction and I'll be damned if the exact same thing didn't happen to it...It also just quit and never started again so I now have 2 cars in the shop. Has anyone ever heard of this? 2 cars in one day with the same problem ? Could bad gas or heat cause it? anyone with even a vague idea please help me...I am sooooooo curious thank you

Could be the timing belt, mine went going down the freeway like that. I hear they usually go a little after 60K miles. Though for it to happen on both would be a really bad stroke of luck.

You must of crossed some kind of bermuda triangle.

That is exactly what I said....That bermuda triangle theory is really the only thing that was making sense...I still dont know because they have not even done a diagnostic on either car yet...even though they have been there since sat night...oh well thanks guys

i could be the fuel pump. ford always have fuel pump problem.

The Escort could of broke a timming belt or fuel pump. Since the Bronco does'nt have a t-belt its not that, but it could be a fuel pump.

If the T-belt broke you can tell because the motor will turn over faster than normal.

If it's the fuel pump, you can just go to the fuel rail, there is a little valve (looks just like a tire valve stem) and either put a fuel presure gauge on it or just open the valve like you would on a tire, if there is fuel pressure than fuel should squirt out (use cation, dont smoke), if it squirts out have have fuel pressure and a good fuel pump.

if it happened to both cars at the same spot, id sayit may be an electromagnetic interferance that affected your cars.

thing is, youd think it would happen to other cars too. but hey, its a cool theory.

and dont worry if its the timing belt on the escort, theyre not hard to replace, and its good security knowing its new.

also replace the water pump then as well.
