RSX vs. Evo/WRX

I have a base 2003 RSX and am planning to turbocharger her with a NX-intercooler nitrous injection. What is the best way to join the 300hp race against the EVo and the WRX???

The only way to gain the 140 or so horse power you want is to beef up the internals (valves, pistons, and prolly a lot more), then you could safely run a high boost.

the evo and the wrx are both all wheel drive and your car is only front wheel drive so its gonna take more hp than them just to compete because they'll kick your ass off the line. do what that other guy says about beefing up the internals and then get a bigger intercooler and turbo than the wrx and evo and run more boost. you'll need a nice flowing exhaust too because the more a turbo can breathe then the better hp you'll get. just my ideas though

With a turbo kit you should easily run with a stock STI or EVO if you know how to drive, but the fact that they can buy a boost controller and full exhaust and add another bundle of power is what makes it hard to hang with factory turbo cars.

how much you think the EVO can handle, already 19 lbs stock.

well visnu managed to make one a sec faster than stock without touching the boost....

only mods....leaner mixture, lighter wheels, sway bar in back, bigger exaust.....

evo's potetial for upgrades is insane.....

btw this vishnu "stage zero" was able to spank a 911 carrera 4s in the twisties

evo's 4g63 can take 22psi on stock internals..

1 bad ass car..

i personally think a turbo rsx cant stand up with a evo\wrx.. they will stomp all over it.. awd turbo.. very fast. and if the evo\wrx gets intake n exhaust they can easily see 350+hp..

you have lots to do to make a turbo rsx run with a evo\wrx..

good luck

lil evo

Any of you guys ever hear of "lil evo" ? Theres a guy around here that took a front wheel drive mirage and turned it into a turbo beast. check out this site: http://mirageturbo.org/
theres proof here that a front wheel drive car can beat an all wheel drive turbo car and many others

no doubt that a fwd can run awd cars.. but itz lots of work..

and the amount of $ you put in a fwd car to make it quic the awd might be faster. lets look at the neon str-4 turbo fwd and the evo 8 turbo awd.. pretty good match up right.. now mod both of those cars and see whick car will win..

evo..

Since you have a base RSX...I'd have to say it's not worth the money that you'd have to put into the car to compete with an evo or WRX sti.... Now if you had an RSX type S and add a turbo to it and reinforce the internals and an intercooler and freeflowing exhaust!!! DAM!!! Say goodbye to the EVO and WRX sti!!!! But since you have the base model it's up to you...You'd have to put a lot of money into it to run 13's...if you want to spend that then thats up to you.

Money isnt the issue, lets just take what we have....im getting stronger rods and pistons in addition to my turbocharger, im not sure if i should get the stage I or II, however, i'm leaning towards the stage II. Now you're saying that a Stage II turbo kickin 150-200 at the wheel in addition to what it has now ( i'll let you know what i dyno prior to the turbo) will not beat the evo and/or the wrx???????
Anyway, i'm only tryin to make the lower 12's, but with a stage II, i think i can dip into the 11's and 10's, i'll let you know.LET ME KNOW WHAT U THINK...YOU AND THE WORLD

OK....Lets go to school.

How fast you go in the quarter mile is a function of the weight of your car and the WHEEL horsepower it makes. I can't remember the formula now , but it's something like weight over whp cube rooted multiplied be some decimal number.....Now.....a base RSX has a curb weight of about 25oo lbs....now add a 200 lb drive and a full tank...about 250 more pounds...2750lbs....in order to run low 12's you will need to have 240 wheel horsepoer(whp). in order to run low 11's you will need about 300 whp...and for 10's you will need somewhere around 400 whp....that's going to take HELLA tuning and SERIOUS reinforcement..not to mention it most likely wont pass emission and will not be street legal...if your state has emissions tests be VERY careful what you do. Because they will make you take it off!! But if your state doesn't have emissions then TURBO AWAY!! So your car has about 140 or so horsepower to the wheels...enough to run low 15's..which is not bad. if you want to run low 12's you'd have to add about 100 more whp. You'd have to add about 160 more whp to run low 11's.....and lets not even talk about 10's. Actually I think that the base RSX will produce more torque at a lower rpm than the Type S...So you will get a stronger pull....but since the horsepower isn't as high as the Type S it won't pull as long as the Type S. For example..the acura GSR and type R....they both have the same torque..one has 170 hp and 195 hp. The Type R will not feel faster but it will pull longer than the GSR.....That's why integras drag racing other cars ussually get burned off the line but later on catch up by the end of the quarter mile. Other cars may have more torque but heaviness and horsepower will start to make the car not pull as hard as it did when it first started...while the integra pulls harder the higher the RPM's.

Okay, thats great info to have, and ur totally correct. I am going for the lower 12's...10's are impossible with this car and what i puttin into it. I learned that a base RSX beat a WRX consistantly. NOW HERE THIS, and it sounds off, but i witnessed it: a base RSX running 11psi beat a WRX 4 out of 5 times, the WRX running 20psi. The only time the RSX lost was only by half a car door. Now with that's potential. The man tuned his car to the T. I have 3 personal mechanics and plan to do the same. Peace!!!!
