well he definately won't be needing a capacitor, and I hope he isn't expecting competition SQ from that system. Audio is one of those things where you have to pay if you want a good sounding system. Lanzar is really low on the todem pole, but if he doesn't have the money for anything better then I guess he can't do much better than that. I mean $465 for an ENTIRE system is probably the cheapest you could possibly get....ever. If he has the money I'd say definately go up a couple notches on the cd player and amp, such as pioneer or a low level alpine for the cd player and jbl or us acoustics for the amp. He should probably step up the sub too to something with a bigger name and reputation like jl or fosgate. But again if he doesn't have the money for it then I say just try it out and see how it sounds.

just as a comparison, I have 2 amps, an 85x4 and an 800x1 and I have no need for a cap, no dimming lights, nothing.

this to him is alot originaly he was going to buy all pyramid stuff and had nothing selected over 100 dollars the subs he piced were only 16.99 a piece and i was like humm thats just way to cheep for a solid woffer. he had like 14.95 6.5" speekers, 16.99 6x9" speekers, a 69 dollar 2 channel 800w amp, 2 16.99 12" woffers, and a 98 dollar cd/mp3 deck. it took alot of convincing to get him to budge.

he got on my case cus i ordered pyramid speekers and deck for my car. i had to explain to him its cus i have NO stereo at all and im going to be putting like 1200 into my stereo system in like 6 months i just wanted something to listen to before i do all the work on my ride.

also he picked the lanzar deck beacouse he refused to spend over 150 dollars for a deck and only wanted cd so he could play mp3s. as far as the capacitor i know he wont need it. he wanted it to make sure that there are no problems and incase he wants to add more woffers later.

would you recomend this stuff

Panasonic CQ-DF583U CD/MP3/WMA Receiver w/CD Changer Controls $149.99

JBL P80.2 160-Watt 2-Channel Power Amplifier $79.99

and what brand of subwoffer thats low cost and prety widly avalible would you recomend. other than this he was looking at a pioner sub that was about the same price but its listed frequency response wasnt as low which is why he picked this one.

go on ebay and get the optidrive series from lanzar. by far the best lanzar makes. the quality is seperated from the other series and its underrated. its refurbished but it still works very nice.a friend of mine bought the opti1000.1d for 215 shipped and it puts out over 1000x1@1ohm. opti=good

don't get the SL. it's a bit overrated (the 800 watt has only 2 20 or 30A fuse.) not really enough for it. a friend of mine bought the same amp and it benches around 500 watts. of course he's going to sell it

ok he tells me it all came in today and they sent him the DVC instead of the SVC. hes worried that he might end up sending to much power to the sub as he tired to find an amp that matched the sub perfectly in rms ratings at 4 ohm bridged. im by far not an expert what should i tell him.
