please help me,
apparently, the previous owner held up the rear bumper with air plane wire on each side of it, but the left side wire rusted and broke (AND IT WAS PLASTIC COATED!!!) arg. Maybe i can go to menards and get some more wire and clamps to tie the wire together. but ugh...it broke off the tip of my exhaust when it mustve been resting on it for a week now.
any suggestions? rofl...did this happen to anybody else?

I think it may be your throw out bearing on your clutch. My car did the same thing, but it's nothing to worry about as long as everything still works fine.

The noise your hearing is coming from an internal bearing or throw-out bearing. Even when the clutch is released in neutral, things start moving.

Thrust bearing or even the weights in your clutch have broken free. I had this where I pulled the gearbox off and the clutch fell out in small pieces.

If your laws are anything like ours then yes it is illegal to not have a bumper/anti-intrusion device that meets manufacturer's original safety design and standards.

is it the whole bumper, or just the cover?

if the metal brace is still there it should be alright, but if not, it is definatly illegal.

The whole bumper and metal mounts EVERYTHING.

The only thing that can hook the bumper up to the car is the two screws that hold the driver side rear bumper plastic by the wheel well up. All else is rusted off. sigh. Right now, i tried that airplane wire thing, but i had a hard time getting it tight enough so it sags about an inch. It also pulls down that fenderish piece between the hatch and the bumper (the piece with the key hole in it) cause i hooked up the wire through holes in the mount for that piece. heh. I used duct tape on the passenger side wheel well part cause the thing with the 2 screw holes broke off....

this suxors. well, at least i got 200mph tape on a car that cant exceed 70 cause it rattles too much. hahaha.

if anyone has ever had this problem and/or knows a solution...please help.

Like could i go to a wreckers and find all new mounts? Could i find a friend to weld me some custom metal pieces to bolt the bumper in place?
