Ohhh What to Say.....

Umm Mr. Ebonically-Hip-Cat-From-The-Street leave the "Ebonics" at home and if you went to start a garage you might want to start with changing the pic of you flipping people off to one of maybee your car or something.... no offense but you sound pretty ignorant! And I would know because I wont claim to know everything about cars either but use your head and you'll know what you need... Sorry I'm in a pissy mood... you need a garage and tools and have to know a thing or two about the cars you wanna work with... Really, its not that hard. We have kids here who start garages (most of them dont last) but The good one we have here has been around for a few years and has spit out some nice 11sec hatchbacks... anyways... just .... yeah

Have you ever done performance work besides bolt-on's? You have to locate a shop or build one, equipment, tools, utilities, advertising, tax, etc. Take care of all the legal stuff. Employees, vendors, supppliers, etc. I suggest working in the field for a while before you go on your own. Dont forget about a nice big LOAN. My buddy & I started a repair/detail shop - anyways we must make $15,000 a month before any profit is made. There is a lot more to owning/running your own shop then you think.

I live in Hoffman Estates but the shop is 35 miles away in Woodstock. Car dealers are always wanting us to detail cars for them, you know what I say? FUCK THEM! We did 5 cars for the FORD dealership 1 day, 3 months later still haven't gotten paid. They want a perfect job & only pay a small amount. The whole reason we started our own shop was because we both dislike dealers. Dealing with our ex-honda dealer is a different story - between us there is 20yrs @ the same dealer. Right now we have a few HS kids working for FREE wanting to learn detailing and/or working on cars in general. What we really need is a phone girl, damnit.

that's what i need, and want. A weekend job where i could volunteer my time at anything car related. Like the local Circuit City car audio, or a local tuning shop that would just let me get familiar with self installation. Like a body shop or audio shop. yeah, that'd be cool.

Cool

We started our own online business. My bf does that full time. You have to start off really slow and just earn respect from different manuf.
