car trouble
I'm having trouble figureing out what is up with my car.I was driving down the street one day and it starts sputtering. So,I pull over and turn the car off and check the engine.I couldn't notice anything so I close my hood and try to start the car. I wouldn't start. Now it's sitting in my driveway rotting. I've bought a new distributer cap and roter for it and a new coil,my cars not getting any spark obviously.Anyway,my engine will turn but it won't start.anyone got any advice on what it is?

car trouble
I've checked all of my fuses, they all seem fine, unless there is an ignition fuse hidden somewhere in my car besides on the fuse board. I'm told that it might be my distributer all together. But I've called around for a distributer and it's $134.88 for a rebuilt one.I'd get one but I don't want to throw that money into one if thats not the problem.I got new spark plugs and wires yesterday and put them in and still no spark. What trips me out is that my car never stalled, it just sounded like it was real low on gas, so I shut it off and it never started again. Will that give you an even better idea?

some simple things u can check is, mabey theres a clog on the fuel line, check the filter, take out the spark plugs and look at the tips, are they burnt out? try replacing them and see what happens, a quick check to see if they are burnt out is take a plug out... then hold put the plug in the boot of the wire, hold the boot (warning dont touch the spark plug) touch the spark plug to a ground.. u may have to work it around a bit, get someone to turn the car over
* make sure all the other boots are pulled off first* when turning the car over if it sparks then u know the distributor is fine and the plug is fine, if there is no spark go buy a new spark plug (like a buck) then repeat if theres no spark then you have distributor problems, check all wires leading to distributor. make sure they are in tight and none are loose any questions just ask

At least if it's the timing chain, that's easy to figure out. Just take the cap off and have someone turn it over. If the rotor turns, it's probably alright. I've seen a few streach to where they won't run, but they ran bad for a long time before that. You might want to have the ignition module checked. Several parts stores have a tester, and that might save you some $$ vs. the whole distributor
