How do I make an exhaust flame kit?
I know some think they're cheesy including me, but I want to do it cheaply just to take a few pics and mess around with photoshop. I don't want to buy the $125 Dragon kit or whatever, that's such a joke. I read somewhere in the Anarchist's Cookbook that you can wire up a spark plug one inch back from the tip of your muffler... Is this true? I would take a wire from the + terminal of the battery with a switch inline, and solder it to the plug, and I think the plug would be grounded on the muffler(?). Or I would just take another wire and ground it to the chassis... Any help/suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Yup thats basicly how you do it or you can subsitute the spark plug for a grill igniter kit and extend the wires it makes a big ass spark its what we used for a potatoe gun so it should work and it will already come with a clicky thing to make the spark.

with the cat on, just adjust the timing to rich, so you'll get loads of extra fuel, then ignite.

Hi, about the flamethrowing exhaust, I'm making a go-kart with an engine out of a streetbike, probobly around 600cc. I want this to be tricked out and meant pretty much for speed. It will be kind of off road but I was watching Monster Garage where they turn the Mustang GT into a Lawn Mower and they had flames come out the exhaust. I don't know how they did it, but I am trying to find out. What can I do to have flames come out the exhaust without buying a kit. Can you give me instructions on how to hook everything up and what I would need to do it. In Monster Garage they also added a small propane tank, how would I hook that up to. I'm not sure but could you just hook up a small propane tank, like from a torch, and a spark plug in each exhaust pipe and hook them up to a battery and switch where I just flip the switch, completes the circuit, the spark plugs spark, and sets the propane on fire going out the exhaust? Any way on how to do it that would cost the least amount of money could you please tell me. Thanks, Randall

With a go-kart?
There was a kit mentioned on automotiveforums before that used propane to shoot a 20 foot plus flame out of the back of your car. I think it was in the main street racing forum (not the honda one) |
