97 cutlass body work questions.

Hey guys,

I'm fixing the front end of a family member's 97 cutlass and if possible, need the assistance of any1 that knows where a good place is to buy fenders/hood/front bumper/headlight housing and bracket. used would be nice to keep costs down. no junk yards around here have parts for it... ive also heard that parts from the malibu or some Chevy model is identical? if so wat year is compatible? thanks in advance...and if there are any wholesale GM parts wedsites, please post them. Again, thank you.

-Dan

Malibu fenders are 100% the same. Lights are 100% the same. Hood is the same, except some Malibu hoods have a chrome accent on the leading edge. Bumper/grille is different...but, lucky for you, the emblem's the same size, and pops out with a little heat and prying. So if they don't mind it lookin a little different, you have a good contender for a swap in the Malibu. Also, the rest of the body panels are the same until you get to the trunk and rear lights. The rear lights on the Olds on the trunklid are integrated into the ugly grey trunk accent, while the Malibu's are not. If your family member would like, there are some tasteful bodykits available for the Malibu-Cutlass as well...reply and I'll find something.

If you really want to use genuine Oldsmobile body parts, either the Intrigue or Alero panels bolt up as well. Again, reply and I'll check which one.

FYI: I have a 97 Cutlass sittin next to my D-Wagon and my mom's Cadillac in the driveway.

Haha, Great meeting another Dan, Dan! Thanks alot for ure info, sorry i havent been on to reply, ive been very busy with things lately, reagarding the body panels... there arent any cutlass' in junkyards here so i was going to check for either the malibu or the (intrigue or alero?)...she doesnt want anything like a body kit, she just wants the car fixed.... so if its not too much trouble, could u tell me which model (Intrigue or Alero) panels fit as well? and if theyre are any factory sites with part numbers/panels for sale...

Thanks Again,
-Dan

It's the Intrigue...definitely the Intrigue. But you're gonna definitely have to replace fenders, hood, lights, and bumper then.
