Window tutorial

Hey all, I was wondering if someone could post a quick tutorial on how to shade windows. I've been having trouble and was wondering if anyone could show me how to do that cool reflection stuff. It would really help! Thanks alot.

ok, here it is...now bear in mind that this is not my usual quality of colouring, it was just a quick, rough scribble to explain what i am talking about.

picture1: i have done the basic outline of the glass section of the car in pencil, then sharpened the pencil up with a black pen. i have also begun to put in very basic shapes for the head rests on the seats. these can be very rough as they will be pretty much covered later

picture 2: a simple dash board and steering wheel has been added, again very roughly. Using a black marker (a white board marker in this case as my usual black marker has run out ) i have made a simple reflection in the side windows. a couple of random marks slightly above it makes the simple reflection seem more ''real'' and less perfect. I personally also like to add a couple of curved sweeps to the far left of the windscreen...almost like the refelctions of a couple of lamp posts or a building of some kind. this is just a personal thing that i think looks good but you may not.

picture 3: a bit of a leap this one but still relatively simple.
The rest of the glass area is filled with black pastel relatively lightly. areas beyond the dash are made quite dark. then using a rubber the side windows that can be seen through the windscreen are lightened. then as a final finish, highlights are added using white pastel. the join between the pastel and the reflection in the side window is given a smudged line of white, and a little white is used to highlight the dashboard, steering wheel, windscreen reflection and the B pillar.

i then added some simple red reflctions just to add something to my scribble.

i hope i have been some help. if i have not explained anything, then just ask and i will be pleased to answer anything you want to know. im sure there are many other methods that other people use so experiment untill you find the method that suits the rest of your drawings or the equipment that you have.
