Power Loss over time

How well does the 3800 series II hold up over time. Does it lose alot of power as it ages. I have about 40000k on my 97 and i hope to keep it running as strong as it was made too. Any suggestions on keeping the power.

It's the little stuff that counts.

I have a 3.8 '98 with 44k miles. When I bought it a year ago, it only had 33k, and I ran into some issues with seals, etc.

Check your spark plug gap every few months or so, splurge on expensive oil (Mobil 1, Valvoline), and when you get the oil changed, have it flushed and filled, not just drained and re-filled. I noticed when I use regular unleaded, the engine rides rougher and I have diminished power. 93 octane makes it run much smoother, with better response. Every couple of months, I use a fuel treatment to clean out the fuel injectors and delivery system.

It sounds like a lot for a little V6, and it does cost more, but the reward is an engine that runs well for a lot longer.

EDIT: I just noticed how old this thread was...oops.
