HELP!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 99 oldsmobile aurora with a door unlocking problem that has gone unsolved for TWO YEARS! The dealer seems to be stumped, so I am hoping someone else here could help me. THe problem seems to be that when the temperature is above 80 degrees outside, or it is very humid, all four doors will unlock themselves a few seconds after they are locked by me. I have had the body control module replaced, as I thought the weather condition issue pointed to a relay malfuntioning, but this did NOT fix the issue. Does anyone know if there is a relay somewhere in the system, or in the doors themselves, that would cause an unlock condition which would cause all four doors to unlock? I also thought that maybe the control switch/relay that unlocks all four doors when you position the shifter in the park position, from drive, might be causing this as it DOES unlock all four doors when you place the vehicle into park. I NEED HELP!!! This is a safety issue with my car, someone can just get in to the vehicle when it unlocks itself. This problem seems to get worst as the weather gets hotter, so I am pretty sure it is a relay somewhere, BUT WHERE!?????? Thank! Mike

You don't live near a military base, do you? In, say, North Carolina?

military base location
No, I live about 8 miles away from Philadelphia in NJ. There are some military bases around here, what is the relationship?

GM was having trouble with Cadillacs a while back. I just read about it and I can't remember if it was alarms going off or doors unlocking, but it was assumed that the military was trying some new frequency since a number of cars were affected and then it suddenly stopped.

theft deterrent module?
I was told by someone that the theft deterrent module, located on the right passenger side of the vehicle could be causing this issue. Anyone know about this? I will scout a new module out at a junkyard and see if this is the problem.

update on the problem
I have tested out the theft deterrent module on the right side kick panel, the relay on the left side and have narrowed it down to the door lock control and theft deterrent module on the left (drivers side) kick panel. This unit also has that annoying beeper that dings when you have the door open and the key in the ignition. I will replace it, since it is only 53 dollars at GMparts direct.com and see if this finally solves that freaking problem!!!!!!!!

doors unlocking
Well, it was NOT the door module. What I did find interesting though is that I disconnected the door lock module, within the drivers side passenger door. As soon as I disconnected this module, all the doors started locking and unlocking randomly. I am wondering if one of the units, within the doors are causing this issue. I will keep disconnecting different modules to find out. OF COURSE the dealership says that these could NOT cause the unlock issue, but it sure seems like it is.

have you always used you keyless entry? if so maybe there is a problem with the button that unlocks it. It could be malfunctioning and that could cause the problem. just a thought

No, its not the keyless entry units, I have replaced them as well. I KNOW that it is a relay somewhere in the freaking system, but WHICH ONE!? It only happens when the car is turned off, does anyone know of the relays in the system?

Re: 99 Aurora doors unlocking by themselves
You are being very diligent on this problem, this is an eight month-old thread!

ongoing issue
Yes, my car keeps unlocking all the time! This has been going on for over two years and I can't seem to find anyone who knows what the problem is. I have had it at the dealer multiple times, but the issue does not seem to happen when I bring it there. I finally got the doors to malfunction while I was at the dealer, they looked at it and told me "well, there are no error codes, we don't know what is causing this problem" What I need is an expert on the electronics of the car to help me track down this issue, but where the heck do you find such a person? One day, my car is going to unlock itself and the car will be stolen or the contents of my car will be stolen so this issue will be a VERY persistent issue till I hopefully find someone to help me.

Re: ongoing issue
There are divisional GM service reps that have direct access to the factory engineers to help resolve problems before they get out of hand and end up in litigation. These reps are supposed to circulate through all the dealerships within their area and help the dealer techs when they are stumped with a certain problem. I would try to find out who your rep is and beg for help.
