Question Rims

If I were to get some 18 inch rims , would my speedo still work properly or would it need to be calibrated or something.
I've been thinking of getting some rims recently and thought this may be a problem.

it wont make a difference if the outside diameter of the tire is the same.... so basically you'd get a tire that has a very short sidewall

no, u will have to get them recalibrated, b/c they r so much bigger than the stock tires, the car will think you're going slower than you're actually going. read this , this guy got pulled over for speeding, bigger wheels

How much would that cost?
If its too much I'll just save my money and not even get rims.
