well it will be hard to get a decent cd player, amp and 2 12's for under 500....my cd player, amp and single 12 was around $900 plus wiring.

The setup I'd recommend to you is:
2 eDesign 12K.44 (dual 4ohm VC) - 135 each = 270
Avionixx AXA 400.2 (puts out 400x1 @4ohms) - 185
Pioneer DEH-P4500MP - 125 ebay

Total - 580 + wiring

This system will hit pretty damn hard and still retain good sound quality. If it's too much you can go a couple models down on the headunit, maybe a 3500 or even 2500, or look for a cheap Alpine headunit.

that setup above looks nice, but shipping price with the amp kit will put him well over 600.

look on the bright side, knukonceptz 4gauge amp kit is only $35 shipped

then again, you're getting high quality stuff for the price. go to best buy and spend the same amount and you'll get something you'll regret later on (not to mention SQ won't even come close).
