Would depend on features of the HUs. You won't notice any difference in power output. Neither HU puts out anywhere near 40W/ch RMS anyway.

Like I said, it would depend on the features. I would rather put in the Alpine if it played MP3 or WMA and the Panasonic didn't. Does one have higher voltage preouts? Does one have aux input(s)? Is one satellite radio ready? Could go on and on. Compare the features and swap them if the Alpine comes out on top. Install is a breeze.

Me too. I'm running an Alpine HU and changer (well, actually was until yesterday). Changing to a Panasonic DVD/MP3 HU. Alpine has much better cosmetics and some functionality, like the Ai-NET system. Other than that, there isn't much difference. It's not like you'd be able to hear a difference between the two brands. Or most any 2 major brands.

what are the model #'s of the two decks you have? might make it a little easier to compare. i have a "gay" panasonic deck(cq-dfx983u)... but it works great for me, and i personally like the look. the wattage output doesnt matter because i have amps, but what does work great are the 5v outs.

If you think Panasonic is gay anyways, then switch it out. Sounds like you made your decision before you posted.

if you don’t have the money and it sounds alright don’t swap as long as its working. I love Alpine but I didn’t see throwing money into mine till my pioneer died. and if you have the amp the HU isn’t going matter on the power part. But it really sounds like you have your mind made up, the Alpine rocks
