96 s-10 blazer voltage problem

electrical and vacuum problem with 96 s-10 blazer (this post)

My 96 S-10 Blazer has a problem even my dealer can not find. The volt meter reads low and fluctuates. When I accelerate the air conditioning virtually turns off, or gets very low. The battery is new and good, the alternator is new and good. The fuel pump has just been replaced. The dealer said everything is within specs. But when they replaced the fuel pump the volt problem dissapeared for 4 days, then it returned. The A/C problem was non existent until the volt meter started flucuation. When it does ( kick in) to a normal charge mode. 14 volts. Everything works fine. Please help. What could be causing this voltage drop? Could there be a vacuum issue when accelerating? Has anyone had these problems. Thank you in advance. Randy

Interesting

Hey Randy,

This could be so many things.

First Off Check the Relay for the air conditioning, The other possiblities are the computer.

Another thing that comes to mind is a floating ground problem. Have you verified all grounds are good. Static has been known to cause Interesting problems.

Also talk to another Dealer

Allan

I'd suspect the alternator regulator. It's internal and may be causing your problem. I'd check the alternator output when the gauge is at 12v. You may have a defective alternator. I've seen that happen. Good Luck.
