Talking Alfa 155 V6 TI completed

my first time building a race car so quite a few things didn't go well (e.g. the clear coat ate some decals) but i think i've learned quite a lot from building this car so hopefully i won't make the same mistakes i made this time and build a better model

ok anyway, a few pics

And what a great choose for your first race car.
The 155 DTM continues a beautiful car after all this years.
I think you have done a great job. What problem did you had with the decals?
Did you let then rest for at least three days before applying the clear coat?

No i only left it there for 1 day... so i have to wait 3 days?

some problems/mistakes i made:

i melt part of the front bumper (around the left hand side vents) when i was using a heatgun to dry it up after i washed it. Fortunately I was managed to recover it to 85% the original shape but it made the bumper and bonnet doesn't fit really well So lesson learnt, never use a heat gun to warm a model!!!

decals: those large ones around the door need to follow the shape of the door handle..etc but i didn't really know how to do it properly.. (do you guys just use decal softener then a knife to cut along the handle?) i think i've a bit more expereince now but still need more practice

clear coat: i've decided to use the tamiya clearcoat (i normally just use the duplicolor spray cans) and after 2 mist coats, i decided to add another slightly thicker coat before i add the final wet coat... unfortunately the tamiya spray can is quite different from the duplicolor one and this coat become a heavy wet coat the result -> some of the decal on the roof and the bonnet become a pinky colour instead of white. Lesson learnt... will be a bit more careful next time!

There are still a few small things gone wrong here and there but thanks god, i didn't miss even one single part!!!!

i still got 3 boxes of DTM models at home.. 2 Mercedes C-class and 1 Volvo. I will build one of the C class next but will build it as a road car this time

Wow, I didn't realize there were so many differences between this kit and the Martini kit I have.

Yours looks great, 15. I hope mine (with custom personal racing graphics) turns out just as well.
