NO!
If you mean steak sauce instead of whatever sause is - then the answer is usually no. The only time its needed is when someone doesn't know how to cook steak properly. Of course in this polls case - it might be spelled kook.

ps - I'm still trying to lose some weight. Little has and never will, describe me. But if we want to go the BBQ route. I've got some Mississippi Heat BBQ sauce (mesquite) that¡¦s got the perfect amount of habanero to give it a solid kick on chicken. I¡¦ve made some sauces myself, but for chicken, that¡¦s the best stuff I¡¦ve had. ![]()

If the steak is cooked right then you don't need no damn sauce. If I have to add sauce, then its an insult to my taste buds and the cook needs to back away from grille at once.

For the record, if you marinate the sirloin (new york cut) steak appropriately and then barbecue the steak in the way you prefer (I prefer mine 'blue' and on charcoal rather than on propane) - then there should be no need to add sauce.
I prefer my marinade to include dark and light soy, some Lea and Perrins Worchestershire sauce, some tomato paste, garlic, ginger, a dash of Jack Daniels, some chili paste, sugar, honey and ground or cracked pepper. The alternative way to cook a steak is to get a heavy cast iron frypan bring it to heat, add some clarified butter and a dash of olive oil add some garlic and chopped onions, saute lightly before adding your marinated steak. Each side should be seared slightly to seal the steak and then cooked to your preference - allowing for the fact that you should allow the steak to rest for a couple of minutes on the serving plate before it is served to complete the cooking process (that also applies to barbecue). A steak should not be 'hot' when served ie you should be able to eat it comfortably without it needing to it allow to cool when served and served with a glass of South Australian (preferably Barossa or Coonawarra) Shiraz.
