Mazda MK 2.5 or 2000?

I've heard that Mazda made some modifications to the MX-5 Miata in year 2000 which was released under the name MK 2.5 in the UK and released under the name 2000 in the USA. I can find no information on this, and was wondering if this is accurate? What's funny is that a few weeks ago my girlfriend seen a car with the name 2000 on the back that she liked, and she described the Mazda symbol to me exactly as it looks. I told her there was no such car. Now, I believe that there is. Does anyone have any information (including pics, or websites) on this?

i think the only difference between mk 2 and mk2.5 were changes to the electrics. the body style only changed once

Re: Mazda MK 2.5 or 2000?

um, the 99/00 miata had no VVT and lower compression, runs on regular fuel (VVT = variable valve timing)

2001+ have VVT, extra bracing so the chasis is more rigid, has shock brace on the front, larger alloys and bigger brakes.

the 99,00 cars are more flexible if your going to be ading turbo or superchargers and other power related performance parts.

not sure if this has anything to do wioth your initial question, but it might help.
