don't expect any big power increase. from what i have read the power and torque changes are hardly noticable.

With the supercharger there should be some power increase, but with a non supercharged truck the difference would be very minor without other modifications. Either way though, the chip is something you would normally get from JET custom programmed for your modifications. If you're lookign for more power I would start with mechanical mods first and then get the computer reprogrammed to take advantage of the mechanical changes.

Exclamation

Do the exhaust, intake, cams and throttle body. Then do the reprograaming of the chip.

"Polishing a Turd". I just don't understand dropping much beyond a K&N Air charger into the truck, and maybe, just maybe headers (mostly because of the mainfold issue.). I guess if you've done the headers, then a Gibson exhaust or something. But it's just not a big HP engine, and it's always going to be a heavy brick shaped truck.

After seeing the Calmini gears, I'll take doubling that low end 4x4 power for $1k and end it all there.

Schlud,

People are an interesting lot. I have seen people sink $3,000 into a stereo in a $300 car. I see it the same way I do lifts. For me personally, before I would spend $4,000 or so to lift an IFS truck 4" or more, I would spend the extra $2,000 and go SAS. I see engine performance the same way. Before I would sink $4,000 into the motor, I would take the same $4,000 and put in a 4.3L Vortec motor. The b#$%^ would be solving the transfer case/transmission issue. But you could potentially solve all the above listed problems with one swap by using a transfer case with available parts instead of the Nissan case where the parts cost is double to triple what it would be for a domestic.

A good example is the X photo floating around that is jacked to the moon with SAS. I wouldn't do that because of the X's severe lack of power, even in the supercharged version. I just can't imagine an X pulling 37" tires and up with a Nissan V6 unless you have a 5.80 gearset or higher in the diffs. I prefer to build a truck to suit my use, not build it and then adapt my use around the truck. But to each his own I guess...

I'm with Schlud, my truck does everything I need it to with its "puny" 170 hp engine. I might drop a couple hundred in it over time to tweak a few more horses out of it just for the sake of knowing I tried, but no way I'm spending any real money when it will not result in a significant change in power.
