Question Move up to a 5 series???

OK guys, I currently have a 2001 330 CiC. I love it. But in reality I need something bigger, especially the back seat. Am I going to be disappointed by going to a 5 series? Do I have to go bigger? What is the main difference between a 3 and a 5?

Cool Movin' On Up

The answers to your questions in order are:
1- No
2- Possibly
3- About $6,000

I just made the 3-series Vs. 5-series decision. I now drive a 2002 525i Sport/Luxury and I absolutely love it! I thought I wanted another 3-series but fortunately, my wife said "get the 5-series, stupid." It was money well-spent.

There is additional room in the 5-series compared to the 3-series. Actually, the feeling of driving a larger car is greater than the measurements would suggest. There is a huge difference in trunk space. With the 5-series, you can ferry your foursome to the course and put all the clubs in the trunk. The 525i carries 4 adults with comfort but I can't say for how far. Works great around town. If you plan to star in movies filmed in the back seat, you may want to move on up to the 7-series. If all else fails, go to a dealer and drive them. With BMW's, size cost more. How much room can you afford??

Re: Move up to a 5 series???

Being the owner of a 5, I would definately recommend it also. It's a great family car, IF.......!
Anyway, you won't regret it. I live in GE where I could open my car up. How fast can you go in the states without gettin a ticket? I believe it's about 75mph on interstates. You cannot use these cars for what they were built for in the US. I've had mine at the governered limit of 130mph on the autobahns. I just love it, she rides and handels great at all speeds.

Re: Move up to a 5 series???

Just my 2 cents.
I bought a 1991 525 new from the local dealer, it now has 175000 miles on it. I use it to commute 60 mile every day. I like the 5 series so much I bought another one in 2002 , which I use on the weekends. (Love the E-39 body style).
I don't think you will be disappointed.

Re: Move up to a 5 series???

Are you considering the new 5-series or the E39?
