Charmed, I'm sure...

My feet are cold. Okay, that was off-topic...here's my thread:

How many of you use 'charm' when talking with a salesman? I'll admit that the public consensus is that in such a situation, the salesman is usually the one to lay on the 'charm', but I've found it to be quite helpful. And I've found that I tend to walk away with an excellent deal, whether this be in person or over the phone. This has especially come in handy with the car salesman, the computer salesman, and a few in between.

So...admit it...how many of you lay it on just to get your way???

I don't think I've ever bought anything with a possible variable price.....but I always try to strike up conversations with hot young grocery store cashiers

This probably works better for female customers talking to male sales people

It depends on the sales man.
I recently helped a mate buy a new car, and the 1st dealer we talked to was a real in your face, hey I can give you real good deal type guy.
I was just cold and told him to his face I wasn't there to make him money, I was there to buy a car.
My mate didnt buy a car of him.

The car we did buy the sales guy was very laid back, and totaly honest about everything.
As soon as he realised that we were looking at the type of my car my mate wanted, and that I knew more about cars than he did he didnt bother laying on a sales pitch. Just bargined on the price.
My mate bought that car.

Its the same with all sales people, how they treat me reflect on how I will treat them. (unless there a very attractive girl, then wel........im a sucker sometimes)

If I didn't turn on the old Jimmy charm then I would only be behind the wheel of a mediocre 406 V6

I guess I am not too great in the charm and flirting dept. So what I do when I go to make a major purchase is study up on what I am getting and then walk in and know what I am talking about...then when the salesman tries to act like I am a stupid female with no clue but lots o credit cards, I just trample him and tell him like it is. "Here's what I want and here's what I will pay, do we have a deal? "

Well, I'm not an insanely good looking women who can wear a short skirt, so I don't bother with sales people.
