much to my dismay, my wife wants a minivan

AAAAHHHHHHH!!!! i have to give in this time. i have no choice. but my wife insists on getting a minivan for the family. i think her rx300 works well enough to haul a family of 4 around. but i think i'll give in since she let me get a big screen TV and home theatre system. anyway, pick one of the following and explain why.

i won't be surprised or disappointed if i get only 2 reponses on this thread

Either way the Oddysey wins hands down easily the most car-like people mover there is and by far has the best engine

when I worked at the toyota dealership, I'd have 20 calls a day about the new Siennas. We sold a ton of them.

I dont know where you live, but the siennas come with AWD, DOHC, and have a better warranty. BUT, they are $5,000 more.

the sienna has a pretty nice interior where the honda's is bland looking. anyhow, why not get the new nissan quest. that will beat them all hands down. go check it out, you will not regret it.

Some of the people at work have minivans. The ones with the least amount of problems (that I have heard about) are the Grand Caravans.

i may consider that as well. but until those come out, if they're not already (i haven't seen any), it's really between the honda and toyota. i'm sure both would do the job just fine. i'll probably go with the honda. cheaper and it's not in its first year out. so i'm sure honda has worked out all the glitches by now. and it's just as well built as the toyota. it's a minivan, really makes no difference to me.

lol.......Looks like the Fisher price toy I had when I was 4

Either way I'm skeptical about Nissans latest effort (The Quest) considering what a piece of rubbish the last one was (Although in all fairness it WAS shared with Mercury- the crappiest maker I can think of) but with cars like the G35, the new Maxima (recently released in Japan) and the 350Z I think I can place a fair bit of faith in them

you know what? i still don't get that whole middle-of-the-dash instrument panel thing. i would think that poses a safety concern, seeing that you have to look away from the road to see how fast you're going. i'm not too fond of cars that are in their first year release. at least with the odyssey, it's been out for a while and has proved to be one of the best, if not the best minivan out there right now. the new sienna still has to prove itself. but i'm sure it'll impress a lot like the honda did when it was released. dammit, to think within a month, there'll be a minivan in my garage.

and one gas-guzzling SUV is enough. my wife's rx300 doesn't get very good mileage. so definately no suburban or expedition. the biggest SUV i would get is like a pilot or 4runner.

How about the Mazda MPV?

By far the most under-rated Mini-van

One of the best vans I've driven is a 95 Ford Aerostar. It is actually more of a light utility work van than a passenger van, but it does have 3 rows of seats and passenger luxury items. I drive it weekly to haul hundreds of pounds of food and material from warehouses to my parents' restaurant.

Absolutely reliable 3.0L v6, RWD, solid build quality inside and outside, work-horse durability and functions... I wish Ford would make Aerostars again, but with better styling and a bit more emphasis on passenger comfort.

I'd have to say Dodge Grand Caravan or Chevy Venture/Oldsmobile Silhouette, we've had both a Grand caravan, absolutely loved it, and we now have a Silhouette, there weren't any newer Caravans at the time, but it's a good van, gets good mileage, although I think it has the lowest horsepower of many vans, only 185 but at 60 mph your cruising below 2000 rpm, not sure what it's like on any other vans but their handling is pretty good I suppose. Really depends on more what your looking for though, just my

BTW, I voted for the Toyota, it's the best to choose from IMO.
