b16a2 in a 5th gen civic?

Is it possible to swap a B16A2 into a 5th gen civic? I know the engine is OBD2, and the car is OBD1, but with a little wiring, could I make it work? I ask becuase I just found a complete swap for $2300 plus shipping. That's an aweome deal, considering that the enigne would be almost brand-new (99-00 Si).

According to Rice-Rocketeer's civic swapping guide at the top of the forum, the 5th gen civics are OBD1. The B16A3, out of the del sol VTEC, is also OBD1. That's the usual b16 swap for 5th gen civics. The B16A2, out of 99-00 civic Si's, is OBD2. Because the B16A2's are newer, they're generally more expensive. $2300 is a great price for those engines, which is why I was wondering if it was possible; an OBD2 engine into an OBD1 car.

Like what? Wiring problems? If it's too complicated or too expensive, I don't want to try it.

im planing to the same swap like u 99 si motor into a 92 civic hatch and i also want some information on that..but here what i found out that might help you....

i talk to a friend and he told me that you will need a ENGINE BAY harness off 96-up integra GSR OBD2 harness and....depend what you want on the ECU you can either run a OBDI p61 ecu (92-93 integra gsr) or OBDI p30 ecu (jdm sirII) or u can buy the jumper for the 99 si ecu...

Lastly, i think everything else would be bolt on and you will need the si catalyac convertor too......except for the exhaust we will need a little modification and welding.....hope that help you and if you find out anything else let me know too.......alright....peace

Thanks, man. I'll keep you posted (no pun intended) if I hear anything else. Do you know how much a wiring harness would cost?

i found some more info...i think is easier than what i thought before..what my friend said....as for engine bay wire harness you dont really need to buy a gsr OBD II harness.....our 92-95 civic OBD1 engine bay harness will plug into the 99 si OBD2 engine harness...

BUT all you have to do is run a few wires from your 99 si engine to the ecu (a jumper still need if you still want to run the 99 si ECU or u can opt that for a OBD1 p30 ecu or p61 ecu) and that should work......here a links i found that will clarify it.....thanks to the man KATMAN (FF-SQuad)..

i correct myself i think for this swap you still need the OBD2 96-up integra or type r Engine wire harness in place of the si engine harness, because even though the is a OBD2 is a 2 piece design and it will still compatible with the 92-95 civic..........

you cant use the 99 si engine harness, because it's a 1 piece design... sorrie for the confusion.........

That's ok. Thanks for the info. You would think that link would have specified that. Oh well.
