Unhappy Gasoline Smell

Hello,

I have a 1994 325i that seems to release a potent gasoline smell on occasion. I took it to my mechanic, and he could not find anything. I have looked for any evidence of leaks on several occasions and have never found anything. The gas mileage right now is averaging about 18mpg on stop and go traffic, which seems lower then what it was a year ago. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
ID_Guy

Check the lines that come out of the tank to a rubber hose to the metal lines that run to the front. Common problem, if they look a little old and cracked, replace the rubber hose. Either way push on the clamps that you see, try and twist them a little. You may see some gas come out there. It is located on the driver side, just in front of the rear tire. More like a foot in front of the rear tire. Hope this helps.

I just recently had this problem and it was leaking under the driver's side but more near the front... I would say near the middle, closer to the driver's side under your feet. I had smelled it plenty of times before seeing it. I thought it was because the chip I installed made it run richer and smell more.. that may not make sense but it was all I could figure until I saw the gas then took it to the dealer. Let me check my receipt..... I had the transfer line nipple (cracked) replaced and the sending unit was leaking. new hose clamps also.
I hope this helps
