142-140hp

I was just curious as to why to horsepower dropped on the LS / GS models from 142hp to 140hp? Was it some new emission crap?

Also, so I don't have to make another thread, anyone have any experience with chip mods? I was thinking about getting one of those $15 Skunk2 chips off eBay. Where could I get one of these installed and can a $15 mod be as good as it sounds?

those things...

its a little thing like 1 inch long that gets soldered in spot of something in place of one of the chips on the stock ecu.. its not that much materials so $15 sounds right.. it just changes your air/fuel ratio.. gives you like 5hp and takes away .5 MPG

yep OBDII is thew reason, it is only 2hp though 'Abd the thing about the cip it is really hard to solder in the cips for the ecu there are 2 chips and 2 resistors and 1 jumper wire. Took me 4hrs to do mine lol

OBDII is quite a bit more restrictive. no, its nothing thats like "WHOA OBDII MEANS SLOW," but its noticable.

look at the obdI 3rd gen tegs (gsr). they run 15.2s' stock, compared to the obdII tegs which run around 15.3-4 stock.

all about keeping our air clean...

rechipping isnt a easy as it sound. I have done it many time you need to desolder the origanal chip without burning it up . And i usually solder in a chip cup, it allows you to swap chips at will. But a good chipping price is 75.00 cause it about 2 hours of delicate work
