Swap to a 350 chevy
I am trying to install a 350 chevy in a 1968 Olds Cutlass. Everyone I asked said it was a simple swap, and that everything would fit. After setting the chevy 350 and trans in the frame, the tranny bolts hit the firewall, the distributor (electronic) wont go in, hits the firewall, and the oil pan is only 1/2" from the back of the crossmember. The engine needs to go forward about 2".
Has anyone ever done this? Any suggestions? Thanks! |

sounds like you have the wrong motor mounts for the car, depends what the 350 came out of, i am really sure with the right mounts, it will fit perfect

You have to have the chevy frame towers that the motor mounts sit on. They are alot taller than the olds frame mounts. And the chevy frame mounts might be positioned more forward on the frame than olds are. There should be different holes on the frame for different engines.
