post what you think about the rsx.. everything bout it... i think it is okay.. i dont like the fact that they are trying to make cars look more "futuristic"... i like the interior and boy do i like that engine although they should of stayed with an 2.2L an had it put out even more than 220 hp .. the vtec-i is lookin purty sweet tho...

I think the decision to discontinue the Integra and Prelude nameplates made complete sense, since the two cars really needed to be merged to make the very best sporty fwd coupe possible. I love my Prelude, but I definitely would have bought a model that slotted nicely between the Integra and Prelude (posessing both the 'Teg's light weight and slightly better balance, with the better solidity and refinement of the Prelude). I honestly think both cars designs and attributes were hampered just a bit because Honda didn't want them competing too directly with one another. Basically, although I hate to see the Prelude name go, this new car will be a winner for sure if they don't hamper it's modability (as they did with the new Civic) and please, PLEASE!, give us an R version within a year .

i have to be honest here when i say that i love the new rs-x. i really want one. i like the way the new interior looks with the blue and sivler. besides the fact that it has 200 hp vtec engine in a little car with a 6spd tranny.

yeah the thing I am worried about is they are going to make them too cheap and they are going to be everywhere like those pesky civics... that is why i hope at least that they make a slightly modified r version or something liek that ... cause i cant stand to see too many of them around... i think honda should of made a sports car and then acura make the rsx just for a lil bit of variety and competition... ya know?

Can you imagine this thing when the aftermarket gets their tight grip on it? Your gonna have RS-X's putting out a good 320 HP easy. TQ will still suck, but thats an 4 banger for yah. It looks pretty sweet. A nice tight package with a 6 spd tranny and 220 HP out of the box. Sign me up.

I don't care how good the replaement is, I WANT a prelude, and I want one brand new right off the lot. I want them to make them for another 5 years, because I won't be able to afford one till then. The prelude, in my opinion, is the best car Honda has and ever will make. The day I learned that they were being discontinued, I felt like somebody kicked me in the gut, killed my dog, ransacked my house and stole everything I owned. Now I'm gonna have to settle for some used one. And yes, I know I'm absolutely nuts, but it is the one dream car I've had that I really had planned on getting.

Hey there, news flash. The prelude is not being replaced with the RS-X. Only the integra. I was talking to the guys at the local Honda dealership, and they say that the 'lude is being redesigned, not discontinued for next year. AND, on the Honda website, they hve an article all about the RS-X and how it replaces the Inegra, but not once does it mention the prelude. If you guys have better info than that, feel free to speak up.

By replace we mean that the RSX Type S will be the only new Honda car in the size/price/performance range of the discontinued Prelude. Yes it's doubtful the Prelude will never come back (why abandon such a recognizable and respected nameplate), but they have stopped building them and have unveiled no plans to replace the outgoing model just yet.

Seeing as how Honda wants to increase profitability and use fewer platforms/engines for their future cars, the Prelude was bound to get the axe. It's engine and drivetrain are virtually unique to it, it's chassis is unusable for any other model, and the 5th generation car never sold more than 15,000 units a year in the States. Compare that with the 600,000+ Focus and Civic sales this past year and you have a recipe for lost money and short life spans. Whatever though, I just thank them that they continued with the 5th gen for as long as they did, obviously the buying public just doesn't understand what a great car it is. Fine by me, makes my car more unique.

How clear do I have to make this? THE PRELUDE IS NOT BEING DISCONTINUED. New, redesigned prelude next year. No axe! They are keeping the prelude. Maybe you don't get to have them in texas, but here is the great white north, we've been promised a new redesigned PRELUDE for next year. Where are you getting your info anyway? This forum is the only place I've heard that they are being discontinued.

Red face

All I have to say about the new RSX is this... *YAWN*

Do I have to buy a S2000 or NSX to get a Honda/Acura that doesn't look like a slightly modified Civic/CL/TL shape?

It seems as though only one non-sports-car Honda will be available in a few years with your choice of wheelbase, name badging number of doors and engine... but the car is the same.

At least the Prelude looked like a Prelude and not like a two-door Civic coupe.

I certainly hope that the Type-R comes out with some distictive styling cues that separate it from every other blandlystyled Honda product... or maybe Honda wants to push me into waiting for the 350Z after all...?

Verboom you are right about the "replacing the Prelude" issue. However AF isn't the only site talking aobut it.

http://home.netvigator.com/~europa/Main_Menu.htm
Have all talked about the car in the past month or so, not to mention the newstand magazines.

It's a wait and see kinda thing right now. Me I would take a Skyline over any car in the world, but that's my choice. Since what car you can get is limited to what is available in your general location (US) for me and I don't plan on spending $90K for a $50K car I have to wait and see what car sparks my interest. The RSX for the $20K range is worthy of that, more than the aging Prelude.

However the best may be yet to come with the new Z from Nissan and the RX-8 from Mazada:sun:

I think we are all lucky to be where we are:sun:

Until I read an article from Honda on a new Prelude, my guess is they will discontinue the Prelude. I don't think there is a big enough market to support it.
