d16z6 question

just out of curiousity,,is this possible

if i got a d16z6 block and switched it out with my d15b2 block and used my dx intake manifold , dx exhaust manifold and dx tranny and ecu and somehow wired vtec,,,

i got a 88 civic dx ,,no mods to the engine

???

not possible and it'd be a huge waste of time even if it were possible... MPFI is necessary.

uh, wtf, it is 100% possible, although you wont get much performance gain out of it.

so it would run pretty much like a d15b2 but with vtec?

it would starve for fuel when in vtec cause of the dpfi instead of mpfi

GTA,,i think you said you were planning on doing this swap to your dx,,,what do you plan to do , like mpfi?etc?

yeah....you're right..dont know what I was thinking.. possible with some external switch for vtec...... but still extremely dumb and would probably do more harm than good performance wise..

i am convert my dx harness to mpfi, then using a obd0 to obd1 harness to allow me to use the p28 (sohc vtec ecu). Im usuing all z6 stuff (intake manifold, injectors, dizzy). Since i will be using the sohc vtec ecu it will control the vtec for me.

Thats what i did on my swap.. used all the z6 parts cut off the ends of the 3 plugs that go to the ecu and soldered them onto the new ecu plugs from the donor car, took awhile to do but it was before i knew that dropshop had the conversion harness.
