Ok I just bought a pair of tokico springs not coil overs for my 99 Honda CivicEx it is an inch ad a half drop. Now, do i need a spring compressor to take out my stock spring or not? Will it be easier to not use one? An should I buy new shocks to go wit the springs, I mean the drop is only 1.5" Someone let me no what is the smartesst thing to do

I would use a spring compressor. you don't need one, but if you don't use a compressor, be carefull the springs don't go flying.

I would just go ahead and get the shocks before you install the springs.. you would have to sooner or later anyway.
Easiest way to take the stock springs and shocks out are to loosen the nuts off the top of the shock assembly before you even jack the car up, that way when you jack the car up you will let the weight of the car act as a spring compressor and you wont have to worry about losing an arm.

you don't need a spring compressor...just grab a buddy and go to work...should take about 1.5-2 hours depending on how things go.....the spring doesn't shoot but only 2 feet

Just be CAREFUL. The first time my buddies and I lowered a car, we put a hole into his mom's washing machine with one of the springs. Hopefully you have fast reflexes and can jump out of the way if ya need to.

Dude, you can take it off with no compressor but when you put the lowering ones on you'll either need an extra hand compressing the spring to get the nut on the top. Play it safe and just get a set of them. Why take a chance, and besides they are cheap9(like 20 bucks)
