Thumbs down HLJ has gotten slow

I've been ordering from HLJ for a couple years now and it seems this new order and shipping process is so much slower. It's been a few weeks since I placed the order and it's been processing to ship for at least this entire week. Any options to consider as far as other online vendors with good prices?

Its because the overseas economy goes up and down all the time, good one week, bad another week. Its not like the US. So many shops/dist. co. will not keep alot of stock on their shelves. I shop I was dealing with was only getting what I needed and was having to order it at the time. He wasn't "stocking" up on items.
So HLJ maybe ordering the kits from their Dist., as we order them from HLJ. THat may cuase dwon time and why orders are taking so long.

Question Do you know why it's slow?

Maybe something you have is on backorder?

I ordered 5 items on Monday and they were shipped on Thursday. All were in-stock. Now I get to see how long SAL is vs. the old UPS which was very fast, once the trip started.

Can't wait to get the new STi, NSX-R, and the Enzo detail parts.

I made 2 orders just recently...

June 30 order received July 22
July 1 order received July 18

That's right, my second order came first.

But both were satisfactory, timewise... IMO.

Like zoom-zoom said, you've probably got some backorder kits. I ordered 6 kits/parts, 4 of which are backordered (what luck) and they were holding my shipment until they were all available, to save me shipping costs (hooray!). I'm not really very patient so I had them ship whatever is currently available, and wait on the rest. You can go check your order status on their site, and they usu. tell you the status of the kits/parts, ie wether they are backordered or not. Go check that, and see how that treats you?

my first time experience with HLJ:

7/3/03 - place order (all items bold in stock)

7/22/03 - shipping notice

8/1/03 - arrival of package via USPS

my original thought was to pay extra for EMS shipping, which i've used many times from JP with great success - it's VERY fast - 2-3 days. but, if you look, they took the most time to process the order, not ship.

hope this helps some of you decide whether or not to order from them. my rule is going to remain to buy only the bold in stock items, otherwise you're waiting indefinitely - and that drives me crazy!

oh yeah, i am located in the american midwest.

Really? I hadn't noticed. I requested that some stuff be shipped now and they sent it the next day. My recent acquisitions have only taken a week to arrive.

The order summary I attached as a text file is the actual order that's paid for and shipping to me. All backorders were either filled or I canceled them. Like I said, I've been ordering from them for years so I'm aware of these issues. The only thing that may sound right to me is what "espin" said about how the economies differ. It may sound far fetched sometimes but, being in a shipping and receiving environment I've seen this happen and we mainly deal with Japanese suppliers. I just never ran into it with HLJ in the past and the order has just been sitting there in the same process for a week. Nothing I can do but sit on my hands and wait, I was just wondering if anybody else has run into this.

AE86 hit it on the head.
Only order something out of stock or on pre release if you are really desperate for it.
All my orders have taken between 7 to 14 days to come out to Australia from HLJ.
It seems to depend on what day your order is processed and what day the mail leaves for overseas as my 2 latest orders where processed/shipped on a Monday(arrived following monday - 7 days) and a Tuesday which arrived the following week on Friday - 10 days.
