Miata Shocks

I have a 12 year old Miata that definitely needs new shocks. I am not a racer and drive the car about 8000 miles per year. I need a shock that is better than OEM but does not have to be adjustable. I have priced a KYB GR-2 and it seems reasonable and should do what I want. When I asked for any experience with this shock on the Miata bulletin board everyone tried to convince me to go with an adjustable shock like Tokico or the KYB adjustable. If I don't race why do I need it, especially if the adjustables are $100-$150 a set more.

If you're not racing the car or getting sport springs GR-2's are a good choice.
