Well, making it louder doesn't always give any performance enhancements, but here goes:

Inreased performance on a budget modifying stock air box:

http://www.southwest.cc.nc.us/davek/se-r/airbox.html

This will increase the sound level and will give you a few HP. Maybe 3-5HP, possibly more.

************************************************** ******

Removing resonator box after MAF sensor, must replace with one of the following:
- PVC pipe end cap (best fit)
- Gatorade Cap or cap of same circumference (good fit and it's free)
- golf ball in a sock (* do not recommend)
- personal choice

This will increase the sound level a bit, but not extremely noticeable and no proven HP gains have been proven from this mod.

I removed my resonator and replaced with a PVC pipe end cap. Go here http://nismopc.tripod.com/filter.htm and view the middle picture of the intake. It is hard to see, but you will be able to see the white PVC end cap in the picture if you look closely.

Enjoy!

Well if you really want noise .......

without paying money.

Don't anybody laugh!

Here's what I did b4 I bought my pop charger!
Completely remove the stock airbox. Take the bottom of the box and cut out the whole bottom. I couldn't wait so I just warmed up my soldering iron and cut through that bad boy like a knife through hot butter. The air still gets filtered since the filter rests at the top of the lower half of the air box and the tubing to the intake manifold is at the top of the air box!

Holllllllllllllllllllla

WTA, another Kiwi!! Welcome.

I did try that on my p11 and although it has a pod filter i too took off the resonater box and plugged inside it a cap off of an oil container. This fitted perfectly inside without going all the way through into the TB. But it made my car loose power!

Hope this helps.

Uh! No one's laughing. Other's have done the same thing. Not with a soldering gun, but...

The link I provided in the above post shows how to do it. Same idea, just different tools were used.

http://www.southwest.cc.nc.us/davek/se-r/airbox.html

He did buy a K&N, but if you don't want to then use your stock filter.

And guess what? its' without paying any money.
