Lowering??????

Im tired of that ugly wheel gap. I want to get some lowering springs. Ive been looking and ive found a few brands ranging in price from 200-399. Any suggestions. Most drop 1.25 -1.5 inches. Will that get rid of the wheel gap?

You just have to measure the gap between the wheel well and the tire.
then decide on how much is enough, but remember every little bump will prolly scrap if you go too low. Keep that in mind

I hear you buddy. Take a look at my profile picture - my wheels/tires are lost in those wheel wells, the gap is huge.

I had an Eibach Pro spring kit (1.3" drop all around) and a Bilstein shock (1913,1914) kit installed on my Z about a month ago. Looks fucking awesome now, and rides really good too(although the stock sway bars still gotta go!). I don't really have any problems with clearance, and from what I've been told I'm not doing any harm by still using the stock lower control arms & panhand rod(but they'll be going soon too).

I love this setup. Go to www.shox.com for the best possibe quote on Bilstein shocks, and for the Eibach's, I happened to find them up for auction on eBay(brand new set) for $189 US bucks. I'll post you a pic of my Z with the new setup to see for yourself.

Lowering the car can dramatically help the way car handles and better yet make the car look even better. But be careful when choosing because you may end up with a nasty rough ride if done wrong. When I had my trans am I put a lowering kit for it. The car handled much better and improved my track time but the ride was rough and to harsh for my tastes. I quickly went back to stock after a few weeks.

if you are worried about a gap in the wheel wells try putting on a high walled tire i had p275/70/r15s in the back and they filled the well nicely

and you could also try getting smaller springs in the front too

Here's a few pics of the Eibach Pro/Bilstein setup I mentioned. Those are 17" rims with 275/40-front, 285/40-rear Firehawk tires. Its not overkill and its just slightly lower that a factory equiped SS or Firehawk suspension (which use the same shocks but a slightly different spring rating).

This setup is not overly stiff whatsoever. I remember my buddy's old '87 GTA with WS6 perfomance suspension being way more stiff. As far as clearance goes, I pull in/out of my steeped driveway just the same as before and don't have any problems with bumps.

Whatever you do, please do not go for a higher aspect sidewall unless you don't give a shit about corner handling.

EDIT: Here, buddy, this isn't even an auction - its for a brand new set(4) of Eibach Pro springs which you can "buy it now" for $172 (thats even cheaper than I paid 5 months ago).
