Question VG30DETT swap?

Has anyone ever done a VG30DETT swap into their S14? Would that require more or less custom work to put in than a RB25DET? Any information I can get on this topic would be great. I know it is easier to find the VG30DETT in America because the 300ZX was actually sold here. If I'm wrong then please tell me.

It would require a lot of work because the VQ is a V6 and the Rb,SR,etc is an inline 4/6.The V6 is wider. For the Price of the VQ I would drop in the SR.Just my 2 cents.

Isn't it a VG for the 300ZX? The VQ is in the 350Z

vg30 series is 3.0 litre from z32
vq35 series is 3.5 litre from z33

people keep messin em up and other people get confused after. specially the people who ask the question.. or they might not get confused and think ur just takling bout the same thing.

I sure hope you don't mean to say they're slow... if that's what you mean then you shouldn't have said that... I mean you do have a Cavalier...

The reason I don't get a 300ZX is because I can't afford a '94-95 Twin Turbo right now but I am looking at options of things to eventually do to my 240SX. Since I just bought it I have plenty of time to reasearch until I can afford something. Stop mocking people who ask questions. If you think it is stupid then don't fucking say anything. I went back in the forums and couldn't find a thread about it so I figured I would ask. I don't see why you have to respond to a thread if you arn't going to say anything.

Did i say it was slow?

think a bit more about why I said that rather than just trying to add another person to your little list of owned people...

2753 lbs (1996 240sx se) > 3502 lbs (1996 300zx tt)

almost 1000 pounds difference
weighs 31.4% more
end of discussion...

And rather than having this a purely intellectual dicussion someone has to bring the car I drive into it. Yes, I drive a cavalier and in no way am I ashamed...I get over 30+ mpg and I can own civics and crap all the time. Yes it's domestic, yes it has 260k miles, but I paid 900 for it (actually more like 400) so don't talk shit.

Cornykorn21 if you were directing some of your post towards me then I'm sorry I thought I was stating the obvious as to why you may not want it other than the reason you gave on your first post as it costs too much. VG/VQ swap is a great idea if you manage it and have some way to fabricate crap cheaply.

Reread what I said, maybe if you took the time to read my 3 sentences then you would notice I didn't say that your remark meant it was slow, I just said **IF** that was what you meant then you were wrong.

settle down, child, or you're going to your room. bringing up the car someone drives is about the wussiest response you could try. i drive a 220k Pontiac family car with an automatic transmission, yet i know more about 240SX's then you probably ever will. so stop talking shit.

Ralph - just to clarify, the VQ35 in the 350Z/G35/FX35 isn't the only VQ. all of the Maxima engines since the early '90's have been VQ30's, as far as i know.

a VG30DETT swap is possibly, but, like the RB26DETT swap, only if you have alot of cash on-hand. it's a WIDE engine. Unstable Hybrids had a project car with one being put into it before they shut down.
