VTEC

VTEC stands for Variable Valve Timing and Electric Lift Control System or something like that.

It's sort of like a boost but it's not really effective if u don't ave any mods in ur car. Good on IL-4 engines and i think that its only available for hondas.

A form of VTEC is available on a lot of cars now. For instance, the Ford Focus has Zetec. It all does the same thing I think.

no its not like boost......its like having two different cam profiles

and the vtec system itself its only on honda's but there are many similar sytems including worse and more advanced ones.....VANOS on BMW is such an example

If you really wanna know check a manual. It's complicated and i couldnt remember most of it, but the two cam profiles thing sounds about right.

no prob....vtec is not a bad ideea.....solves the problem of low end torque of high lift cams by putting low lift cams at low rpm and switching to high lift cams at high rpm(most people mistakenly refer to it as vtec kicking in)

Come on Neutrino. Everybody knows VTECH kicks in only in second and third gear after you let it spool up for a lil bit. But after you use it, you gotta let your car sit for a lil bit to cool off.
