Question Question: Interior lights, Console, instrument cluster, etc...

Hey all, Ive been reading through the forums for a couple of weeks, and I got a question for anyone who knows.

I want to change every single light inside of my 2000 civic ex to Red. If it glows, I want it red. (not pink )

My question is this: Is it really that difficult to take apart the dash and swap bulbs out? What are the bulb sizes, I saw a thread that said 194's and 24NA's..but what about LED's for like the AC, Recirc, Cruise buttons?

The second part to my question is for those of you who have replaced all your interior bulbs/LED's...is it worth the time/energy for a newbie to do it, or should I just have it done professionally?

Some of the threads Ive read make it sound like cake, while others sound close to suicide cause they effed up their wiring and stuff.

Thanks
Alphasevx

It all depends on how well you know, or are comfortable working with electronics. Since I myself like to tear things apart to fix or modify them, it's no thing to me when I swapped out my gauge cluster lights to light up amber color, and to swap out the bulb for my "D4" shift indicator, to a supe bright blue LED. If it's something that you want to do, then go for it, it's not a waste of time if it suits you.

Your lights look really good! I especially like that Blue LED on d4.

So on a scale of 1 -10 with 10 being the hardest, how tough is it to pull apart the dash and swap out bulbs? Someone told me that you might have to solder the LEd's...is that true? Im not a total idiot about wiring and stuff, Im mostly concerned with pulling the dash apart and putting it back together.

Also, if there are any walkthroughs or diagrams in any books let me know !

Thanks

Again, depends on your skill level for this kinda thing. When I worked on mine, I hadn't worked on it ever, and I'd have to rate it a 3, maybe a 4 at most on difficulty. And to add to it, when I worked on it, I did so because I was bored one night at 2am inthe morning, LOL! As for the blue LED I put in, only tool I used was a screw driver to unscrew the cluster from the dash, didn't need to solder anything. The bulbs were just a simple swap out of course, and the LED just fit in, as the bulbs normally there are like Christmas tree bulbs (the miniature ones) where it's just wire leads that come out the ends of them.
