yes i know the anime initial d literally. i own all of it and watched it over and over for like 100 times. the car was a japanese 83-85 zenki toyota sprinter trueno gt apex. if you live here in the US it would be a 85-87 corolla gts. but why get one? yes it is a fun car to drive and reliable. but if you believe that it is faster than those other cars in the anime than you were fooled. yes it can be faster than a stock civic with a b16a if it was modded mildly but it would be a lot of work. here is a guy who made one then changed it after the anime got big.

The toyota Trueno tak drives in the anime is a 1.6L nonturbo AE86 5spd,
the HP of the stock eight-six was 130-140 horse power thanks to the powerful DOHC inline four 4A-GEU .

Re: initial d help

The car is a early model (zenki) Trueno sprinter or 85 and early 86 corolla gts hatch. If you want to buy don't be brainwashed into buying the hatchback. I own a hatch and it is a great cat but, I have riden in the coupe model same suspinsioin and everything but had alot less chasis flex and felt more predictable during drifts. Also the car doesn't have 130-140 hp I wish it did but sorry thats not true. The motor in the AE86 is the early model 3 rib TVIS blue top 4ag or 4agec I think you are right about the 4ageu (same engine but with 7 rib block) but only in the late model (kouki) japanese models. The motors only make 128 at the crank (japan version) and most say toyota had a bad habbit of over rating thier engines so it is actually more like 120 hp the us motors are the same but horse power figures are way lower because our 92 octane gas versus Japan 102 octane and all of out emisions crap. Also I might add that the GT-apex models came with a Limited slip differential or basicly a locker or posi trac to newbies. On the usa models it was an option and you can tell by the vin if you are buying one AE88#####T283 will have a LSD and any model ending in T282 doesnot but you can convert a non lsd car to lsd easily so I wouldn't be picky considering the rarity of these cars hope I helped

YOU GUYS GOTTA ADMIT THOUGH, IT IS A CLASSIC.

THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DONT LIKE OLD CARS, THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DONT LIKE NEW CARS. MY SELF I LIKE ANYTHING WITH 4 WHEELS, AND AN ENGINE THAT MOVES THE CAR AT MORE THAN 60 KM.

I changed the one from the bigining of the DVDs.

the original said something like "BEFORE YOU DRIVE, YOU CUSTOMISE YOUR RIDE" or something like it.
i just tweeked it, and gave the original credit.

Re: initial d help

the ae86 from initial D was running a (by the end) atlantic racing class A engine that was rated at 240hp NONturbo.

correct me if i'm wrong but that would be worth owning

actually the car has a curbed weight of somewhere around 2000 lbs.
3000 lbs. seems a little too heavy. it is lighter than a civic which is 2300 lbs/

Re: initial d help

I saw a downhill race on video between AE86 and GT-R R34,,,,,, guess who won?
the 86 won the downhill race , so everything in Initial d is true but no one can drive like tak unless if he's a great drifter (( with some luck))

Re: initial d help

yeah that downhill race you saw was on a best motoring video. i own the video but i dont want to dig it up to see wich volume it is. yeah it is touge and you cannot pass on touge but if it were on a track the trueno would take the r34 in the corners but the r34 would pull away from the ae86 on the straits like no other. i am not dissing on ae86's because i own one and i love it but i do not like when ignorant people take a cartoons seriously
