1990 240sx base
240sx base model that I want to buy.. 1990... starting price $1000.00USD... in NYC brooklyn...
I will post up some pictures later on(about a week or so maybe in a few days), but for now ill give a description... (fully stocked so i think) base model, manual, no power window or lock, dont know about steering or abs (probably fully UNloaded... lol) starting from the front...I think its missing the front nissan emblem (unless they dont have one) flip lights minor rust on driver side eye... dent next to the flip up driver side fender (very close to the light..) 2 small dents on the hood (has some rust) minor chipped paints all over front (edges etc..) windshiled rubber seems very dried (harden and some seems loose) bumper looks a bit loose, maybe from rusting screwes.. Flat on the passenger side front wheel middle Doors seems to be in good condition do not notice any dings or dents... top is clean and in good condition paint still intact bottom is slightly rusted out because of snow and salt i guess.. Interior(I couldn't go inside yet, no keys) 2 rips on the driver seat not sure about passenger LOOKS like it has ac... pedals looks ok some junkies inside i got to chuck out or something.. needs to be cleaned.. got some coffee stains near the hand brake... Rear Chipped paint all over (spotings on the edge) foam factory wing small crack driver side rear tail lights dent on driver side cracks on some part of the paint Passenger side rear wheel is a "spare wheel" you know those black stock ugly wheels? i call them spare wheels.. hehe... This is all i can see right now with a 2 minute look... I can get pictures by.. hopefully friday or saturday... Do you guys think its a good deal if it is supposively running ?? *i think the milage is around... 13x,xxx? didn't check this time, i looked like 3 weeks ago and thats the number on my head... Hopefully I can talk it down 100 or 200... and pray to god my parents will get me some insurance... Since i am planning to major in mechanic, i think i will be able to fix it up myself as i learn... (and with my family mechanic's help of course..) looks slightly beat up.. and i think it would cost some money to make it "new looking" right?? can anyone with a guess from the description give me an estimate of how much it will cost to renew it? if not then maybe after i can post the pictureS? Thanks much.

it sounds like a good deal for $1000. just make sure you do a THOROUGH once over of every aspect of the car IN PERSON before you even consider buying it. i've known people to make splurge buys on a cheap car that they think can be fixed up, then get it home to find it has some huge unfix-able problem and they're screwed. but, in actually, nearly everything can be restored/fixed with the right amount of time and effort (and possibly money
) put into it. if you have your heart set on restoring this car to "new-looking" condition and put alot of effort into it to reach your goal, then you'll do it. from what i read, the car sounds good for $1000. just, like i said, make sure there's nothing huge wrong with it. for instance, my friend went to check out a $1000 (CDN) 240SX the other day that didn't look too bad in the picture, but once he got there, the car was a wreck. horrible bondo work, paint chipping all over (Maaco job), expanding foam used to fix dent in fender etc. etc. it was a shambles. but, for another example, i checked out a $1000 240SX in May that was in fantastic condition. the carpet had been stripped, the paint was in great condition, no generic rip in the driver's seat, and it had under 200k KM. the only problems were a rusting interior drain hole in the floor-pan and a small dent in the front fender. there's deals to be had and there's scams to be had, you just have to do a thorough once over of the car and decide which of those categories it falls into. good luck!

hey thanks guys, going to get some pictures up by friday afternoon, so check back if you guys want...
goals are renewing exterior (paint job probably black or silver i dont know, and fix dents) then ATTEMPT to do a rb25 swap when i can get the money... going to change most of the stuff for the interior.. well for the renewing part, i might do a s15 light conversion first.. (and drive a chipped paint and dented car around -=x) all good all good.. i'm just waiting for my dad to calm down and check the insurance for me (he's been getting pissed at me lately..)

Rear looks relatively good, just needs a little TLC on the bumper and left brake light lense.
Front looks pretty bad, but useable. If you want to do an s15 front conversion than I would just do that rather than thinking about trying to mess with all that's wrong with the front. It still isn't in so bad of shape that it's past repair being a good option. A little work and the front will look great again, but with that much work you might as well do a bit more and go for the s15 front I think for 1000 the outside looks decent (other than the flat tire lol). Depending on the condition of the engine and how soon you are going to do a swap it's a pretty decent deal.
