Try all the usual places, Trade and Exchange, www.trademe.co.nz and the new one what ever its called.
Then you will have to start hunting down wreckers with skylines, start with the yellow pages for local ones, then you will have to start looking in Auckland and Hamilton, either make a day trip or pay for the postage and phone calls. Any good diff repair shop, or qualified mechanic will be able to tell if its any good or not, but generaly Nissan diffs are pretty much indestructable.

Whats the limit of those rearend? I am planning on putting about 600lbs-700lbs of torque though one. Will it hold for long. I hope long enough until I get it back to the States
Then I can put the proper Ford 9" in her

Dunno about their limit Sky. But I have around 51kg-m (am not too sure in lbs though...) and they lasted quite long...about 1 and a half year actually...and to think that I trashed the car on the track in the hot blazing sun every month...I think they are pretty strong! Just take care of the fluids...

Oooops, sorry, I was talking about the front diff. The rear diff is still holding on well...no sign of being unhealthy till now. I suppose it is really really strong.

Re: 2nd Hand LSD

Ever since the 180b Nissan difs have been regarded as generaly the strongest IRS diffs you can get. Sort of the sports cars ford 9 inch. The Skyline diff is just a bigger version of what was in the old 180b, and so is even stronger again. I think you would be have to give one a hell of alot of abuse before it failed. Interesting note though, all the Nissan RWD IRS diffs from the 180b to the Skyline are actualy made by Fujimi Heavy Industries, who wait for it, own Subaru, and who in turn are partialy owned by GM. You can actualy take a 180b diff housing or center and swap it with parts from the rear diff in any RWD subaru, even the new WRX's. And I believe the diff in the back of even the last Silvia/200sx is the same unit. It means there is an almost endless number of differnt ratios to choose from, and every kind of LSD you could ever want, from old fashioned mechanical unit from the 70s, to an adjustable viscuous unit from a WRC rally car.
