alarm module

Your alarm module needs to be replaced. or save 100 bucks and put black tape over the light on the dash!

The contacts in the seatbelt buckle are worn. Underneath the seat is a plug, connect the 2 leads that go under the carpet together. The light will never be on even if you do not have the belt on.

Why did you do that? Try connecting the 2 wires together. Make sure you do this to the wires going under the carpet and not into the seat.

Re: my dads car

yeah, cutting the wires just makes the car think that the seat belt is never buckled, if you wire them together, it thinks its always buckled

Re: my dads car

i have a 78 caprice
every once in a while for no reason my seat belt light goes on it scares me because its red and i think something important and bad happened then it goes off once it went off too fast to see which light it was
i hate those lights but theyre better than nothing

heavytruckray has it right put some black electric tape over the dash light and say forget it that is what i did to my stupid check engine light in my 1982 delta88 royale. There is a reason these lights are called idiot lights by automechanics round the country.

I had the notion to put black tape on my "check engine" light.

Good thing I did not, otherwise the TPS would not have been replaced and the car would have continued to cut off.

They are called idiot lights, because only idiots ignore them?

LOL!
