it would never be the same, and because of the bad name it would never be called the fiero again even if they did come out with snother 2 seat mid engine sports car.

The Fiero will come back, but here's the question: Front engine, or mid?
The original idea was to make the mid-engined Lotus Elise/Opel Speedster into a Fiero. Given the Ecotec (the feature engine in these two beautiful cars) was designed by Lotus, the package would basically be a rebadged car that's 100% Lotus: no good. GM fears it will reduce Lotus' sales. But a new thought has come out across the pond (Europe). They love the Solstice's platform, and are considering using it as a front engined Opel Speedster, and Vauxhall will make something called the VX Lightning. My preference is, make the roadster, call it the Solstice, make the hardtop, call it the Fiero. I'd seriously prefer that they make the Fiero out of the Elise platform, but then again, roominess inside the cabin was always an issue on the Lotus. But not so with the Solstice it seems. And as all of you Fiero owners know, the original Fiero interior is very roomy for a small car. Either way, it's going to have the Ecotec, which is awesome, and as Badassgremlin will tell ya, I'm very interested in putting one into the Fiero I have. But the difference, the Solstice is a 6-Speed (from the Vette), and the Elise is a 5 speed (from the J-bodies). GM seems to not be able to make a 6-speed FWD tranny. So what did Lotus go and do? They took the powertrain from the 180HP Pontiac Vibe FWD 6-speed (made by Toyota) and threw it in. How do you tell which is which on the Elise? The Ecotec's two tailpipes are spread out towards the wheels, whereas the Toyota powertrain has the two tailpipes together in the middle. Although the Toyota version hasn't yet been released, if you see photos of the Elise, you know how to tell now. In about a month, I'll have a website up and running called Fieroturbo.com (catchy, eh?). It'll have pictures and a whole complete guide to new Fiero news, AND I'll be putting photos up of each step of my Turbo Ecotec Fiero buildup. Nuff for now, my PC is on the fritz, which is why I don't have the website up yet.

ya the people that say it will never come back with the same name are wrong in my opinion if u think the fiero is a bad car you've A.never driven one
B.are a tree hugger and probably hate s.u.v.'s C.just listen to rumor's from people that are mentioned above there are so many fiero fan's that the car would sell well.

The real question then becomes how can it be a Fiero if the engine is in the front? Here's what I think they should do. Lotus is getting rid of the Esprit (I think) so why not make another a sell it as an Esprit and Fiero? Even if it ended up costing $80K I'd find a way to buy one.

Hey, as long as they don't use Toyota's MR2 as a platform, I could care less how they do it. I sucks that the Pontiac Vibe is really a Toyota Matrix. I like the look, but I really think Pontiac should have put in an Ecotec in place of the Celica/MR2 Motor. As long as the new Fiero doesn't have Toyota parts, I don't care.
