Question Digital Cameras...

Ok well you all told me that i should get a digital camera rather then a webcam. But it seems the FPS on digital cameras are lower for webcam use, 15fps instead or reg webcams 30fps. Anyway.. i got soem choices but need help deciding.. not willin to pay anything more then 100$

HP Photosmart 320 2.1 Megapixel $100

Toshiba Digital Camera 3.2 Megapixel $100

Aiptek Pencam SD 1.3 Megapixel Multi Function Camera $70

Concord Eye-Q Go 2000 Digital Still Camera 2 Megapixel $80

do you guys have anythin to say.. what do you think would be good. IM leaning towards HP.. not sure if it can be used as a webcam though, anybody know?

While I'm not big on any of those brands for cameras, go with the Toshiba. 3 megapixels is a must, anything else tends to look extremely grainy.

I messed around with just about all the cameras out there before I bought mine. It's the Fuji Finepix 3800, and I love it to death. It's not the greatest camera in the world, but it suits my needs perfectly, and it's nice to have a camera that actually feels like a camera when it's in your hands. Takes great pics (3.2 Megapixel), and it takes great video as well. I'm using it to make a short movie even. Also, the batteries last forever as long as you don't leave the camera on when it's hooked up to the USB ports (when it's not in USB mode, it has a power-save function that will turn it off after about a minute).

Anyways, that's my 2 centz. Just thought it was the best camera, and the price wasn't too bad.

Oh, and if you're interested, here is a link to an older version of the movie I'm making. It's been re-edited and almost finished since this link was posted, but you get the basic idea:

I might add that the pics in my sig are pics I took with my digi cam. Althought greatly reduced in size, at full size the picture still looks amazing.

I agree. I bought a cheap digicam a few years ago ($300 was cheap for one then) and I hated that I could only take pics outside during the day to get halfway decent pics. So later on we got a Nikon Cool Pix 4300...retail $500, but we bought it from a friend for $250 and I love having a bit better of a camera. Photography is actually fun again for me.

then again if you are wanting just quick snapshots to post pics on the web a $100 may be fine but go with the highest megapixel possible. Anything below 3 is pretty much crappy.

Why are you concerned about FPS? A webcam will give you 30fps of crap, while a digital camera will give you 15fps of decent stuff. How often do you plan on taking video with a digital camera? They're made for taking very nice still shots.
