Glass Packs

Hey guys, just wondering, but does anyone have a Glass Pack exhaust? One of my good friends has one on his neon, and it sounds awesome, and i found a few on ebay really cheap...has anyone used one or know of someone who has one on a 4g? are they illegal? I heard they were, but my friend has one and i like the way it sounds...any info would help

universal "stainless steel" mufflers are glass packs, they are just shiny and have a tip on them.

I thought a Glass Pack was a muffler with the insides made out of fibreglass. After some use, the fibreglass burns away and they get really, really loud.
I haven't had one since my 70 El Camino.

PS-Did I say LOUD?

I never had them on my 4g. I had em on my camaro and on my daily driven 70 Chevy pick up. There kinda noisy. I run the longest ones too. I have heard them on a HB and a 90 TEg and they dont sound great. Realy raspy and nasty sounding. Id reccomend a stainless magnaflow oreven the auminized one if your budget is tight. I have one on my car now and sounds good...mellow and quiet but at WOT is mean. And most "fart cans" are the same as glasspacks...since they are round and usualy have regualer fiberglass shit packed in it and blow eventually. Most good companys still use fiberglass but they use more or wrap it so it doesnt blow out. If you put a glass pack as a muffler and replaced the resonator on the b pipe and used the longest glass pack possible it could sound good..but for the price of two glass packs and install you could get a manaflow.

what's the exact name of the magnaflow exhaust? do they make one specifically for imports? one of my dad's friends told me he used to know a guy that took flowmasters for a Z28 (dual pipes) and moded them to go out the side, and said it sounded awesome...but im not into that..but kinda the same concept...where can i score a magnaflow exhaust and can u just slip it on the stock piping or did u have to use new piping? thanks...

Clif

Cherry Bomb is a brand name of a glasspack. and a glasspack muffler is a muffler that is packed with fiberglass in the resonator chamber around the inner perforated tube.. which is what most universal mufflers are.. its just that the chamber is bigger, therefore theres more resonance and it gives a bassier tone.

BigExhaust.com is were I got mine. Jegs sells them as well. You can use stock piping. The muffler is the same style as a stock one. They would probably just weld it on like stock and put a new tail pipe since i assume you would get a muffler with at least 2'' inlet outlet.
