Engines for 2004

Just reading the article on the BMW P84 which has recently had a succesful test; http://www.autosport.com/newsitem.asp?id=24010&s=5, it just reminded me that the engines used in 2004 will have to last the entire weekend. Will this make the engines less powerful due to increased demands in durability or do you think that teams will continue to develop more powerful engines??

I think for the less budgeted teams, this'll be a problem. I suppose for Ferrari, McLaren, & even Toyota, they'll find someway to still produce adequate figures relative to today's numbers with some innovation or another.

I remember reading somewhere that Patrick Head said that these 3L V-10s will get up to around 1000hp in the next few years, and then the regulations will be changed. I don't know if he was anticipating these engine rules or not...either way its an interesting tidbit
