When you say service do you mean oil, trans fluid, spark plugs, that kind of crap?

About the smoke, is it slightly blueish, or is it white? Blue smoke is oil burning, in which case the only fix that doesn't involve using oil additives is to replace the piston rings. (also, heavier oils dont burn as much) If the smoke is white, it is anti-freeze in which case you need a new head gasket, and you can't fix that with stop leak or stuff like that.

basically, when doing some service like that, if I can't tell when its last been done, I just change it. Parts I change are the plugs, distributor cap (just a few 8mm bolts), the rotor which has a screw that holds it on (if the screw isnt facing the way you want, just leave the cap off and barely turn the key so the starter moves it). I also change the fluids, engine oil, trans fluid, coolant if it doesn't look clean, and power steering fluid (be SURE to use honda power steering fluid in it. most stores carry honda stuff for a reason). Change the air filter, the PCV valve, fuel filter maybe.

As for your guess that the head is corroded, I've never seen it, and I doubt it would happen because there is such heat and pressure in there that I don't think it would be able to form. Keep a careful eye on your fluids, if oil or antifreeze are going down, they are most likely the cause of the smoke. However, a little smoke is normal until it the engine warms up, this is usually something like condensation that builds up in the pipe, and it is evaporating as the pipe heats up.
