ok when it comes to engines i understand the internals but what baffles me is the computer management idea...i have a few questions that may sound kind of dumb but bare with me...a "racing chip" and an aftermarket ECU are they the same thing??and what exactly do these things do??

I'm not to sure on the difference between a racing chip and a aftermarket ecu I think a aftermarket one they just have you send your ecu to there company and they just chip it there. But what a new chip does is it changes your fuel curve, it can remove your governor, it can give you a different red line or none at all and if you have vtec it can lower your vtec engagement.
