Question Muffler suggestions???

Ok i am coming to you from the honda/acura forum and i curently am selling my 96 honda accord. See my delema is this, i am trading it in for a 00 neon ES and i want to get a muffler right away but my parents said NO!!! because of the fact on my accord i have a 4 in. muffler, a header, and no cat, which makes it extremely loud under hard throttle. So what im looking for is a universal muffler that i can get for this neon that is not extremely loud and i want a deep note unlike the one i have now which is loud raspy high and anoying(much like a misqeeto). so if anyone can help and maybe even if theres a website or something that has differnt mufflers sound clips, i would appreciate it. I also heard that DTM style mufflers were made to be more quiet that most is this true, just remember im looking for a mellow deep note that wont be annoying to my parents thanks

Look up the Dynomax cat-back (very affordable, very good sound, but without snazzy chrome tips), Thermal R&D (expensive, can get raspy, Polished SS), Borla (Really expensive, but probably the best sound)

i recomend the pacesetter duel outlet exhaust. thats what i got on my neon and i luv it. it looks great (in general looks like the f150 dual exhaust) , sounds great, and is very affordable ($190). Check it out at http://www.modernperformance.com. And the yellow paint on the inside of the pipe turns black with the exhaust waste in a couple weeks.

A friend of mine had this set up as well. Nice and throaty sound without being overly loud. I am considering going for this set up sometime when I have some extra $$ laying around. I am not a fan of yellow so if I get it I may just paint the insides of the tips black.

Unhappy Rice????

Tell me your not just looking for a muffler that sounds cool! you oughta be looking at parts that give you performance and not just the neat "fast and furious" look.

I apologize in advance if ure actually planning on making this car nice under the hood and not just on the outside, but right now this sounds like a prime example of rice gone bad to me....

I will say that the choices here are all good to excellent ones in terms of performance. If our friend is not interested in /real/ performance as much as looks and sound, that's their choice. I'm of the belief that it shouldn't go on my car unless it makes is faster, stop better, or turn better. But... variety is the spice of life.

I just got the Dynomax catback system on my 99 and I like it a lot. I can feel a little extra boost from the reduction in back pressure and it has a nice, deep tone, but not too loud.

I also like the fact that it looks stock and is not going to attract attention from those kinds of cops that like to harass people with cars that look "different".

Lightbulb mufflers

there are alot of mufflers u can go with...

if u want that annoying(no offense) civic sound go with a ractive straight through muffler, maybe the fireball style.

if u want a deeper sound, you might want a flowmaster, u can get just the muffler for around 120 bucks, or u can get a cat-back exhaust for a few hundered bucks. www.flowmaster.com

like others said borla is really good, im not too sure about pacesetter thought. No offese to who has these exhausts, they may sound good and may give u good horsepower gains but the metal they are made with dosnt last long and will rust in only a few short months of use.
