I've heard good things about the HKS GT2540 Turbos. I hear that they make pretty good power and they bolt right up to the stock SR manifold. If you have a KA you plan on building, or have built up, get a custom manifold done or you can get a GReddy KA Turbo kit or the XS Engineering T3/T4 Kit. Either way, I think you will have a pretty good power band. I think the GT2540 hits about 320 at max boost, and if so (because I can't remember) I know the GT2850 hits 300 easy and the GT3037 is about 400. Either way have fun, and good luck.

without at least a rebuild i think your gonna have a headache with the 180k motor. if you have an sr20det though, the forced performance big-t28 is an excellent turbo for about 330hp and it only costs about 850$, it also bolts right up. if your going KA i'd go with a t3/t4 or a t3/to4b setup.

what is involve in a rebuild? what exactly is a rebuild... is it taking the engine apart and replacing all the valves and pistons and rods with new ones?? how much would that usually cost? |

nah, dont worry bout soundin like a noob, everyone is at some point. in a rebuild, i'm pretty sure it depends on how extensive you want to go. you can go all out and get the valves, pistons, rods, springs, retainers, crank, cams, lifters all refurbished or totally new. you can get the cylinder walls smoothed and resurfaced. you can also fix all your leaks if you have them.
again, this is just an idea of what is involved, there could be more that i'm forgetting, or less and i'm just bein dumb..lol. i just had a thought.....a reduild will probably be quite expensive. why not pick up a slightly used ka24de on ebay or somethin. they go for usually less than 700$ and usually have low mileage for that price. you would save yourself a headache and a half with a lower mileage engine.

How about a To4? Way cheaper for both the turbo and the manifold... I am comtemplating a ballbearing to4 mounted to a Revhard manifold right now... |

i've heard some scary stories about the revhard manifolds.....blowing welds at high rpms or high boost. another guy i've talked to, one of the welds chipped and a metal piece about the size of a few staples went flying into his turbo and hurt some things.
