ok guys while i love the boxer engine of the impreza i find that i tend to look at extreme mods. my question is what would you guys think of swaping in an RB26DETT engine with twin turbos?

ok well ive scratched that idea i remembered to acount for depth and width but totaly spacecd off the height issue. however im still engine swaping and im sure this will make all subaru enthusists happy im staying in the subaru family. ill be going with the SVX motor and then having it turbo charged and fitting a wrx 5spd transmission to it.

go big my friend,( if money allows )
http://www.axispowerracing.net/engine.html http://www.lachutesubaru.com/cgi-bin...1&pid=103&a=dc ( note: price is in Canadia ) there are many more places where you can buy used drivertrain assembly where 400~500 whp can be acheived in matter of turbo swap

hey thanks for the link to axis tuning thats impressive im talking to them about the possibilitys of having the SVX motor worked on to get it to the 9000Rpm range. this engine is pretty damn im pressive though rather rare. its a flat 6 250hp stock no turbo. 3.3 litre displacment. so once i get down to that with the .38 diferential i should be able to see a top speed range of 230-250 and with the Twin Turbo setup at 600HP i should be able to achive a pretty nice 1/4 mile time.

Subaru tuing
I think you will find it near impossible to mate the skyline engine to a subaru, simply for its length alone.
Even an SVX type flat 6 engine will be a massive amount of work, although there is one person in the UK already doing it. Whatever engine you think you will bolt to the stock 5speed, that ends up with any amount of power will break teh gearbox. The std 5speed, even in STI form is crap, and will barely handle 300bhp reliably. You will need either un uprated gearset, or the 6speed, both of which will handle a lot more power. Best/easiest route for power is with a bigger cc four. Up to 2.5 can be achieved quite easily using an EJ25 as a base, although some of the stroker kits for 2.4 etc may be better due to some of tehm being based on teh closed deck EJ20, or EJ22 motors. It does cost money to get power though, but 400-500bhp is very achievable. |
