Friday:A few people had said the drags were going on again recently (there was a massive bust a couple of months ago and they had been dead as since) so we thought sure we'd check it out. We went to one road where stuff usually happens *dead* so we went to another road where that massive bust happened *dead, stupid idea anyway* but i thought i would check out the first road again for the hell of it, sure enough a few cars were there. We parked up and two minutes later everyone starts scrambling, some girl in an Evo3 says they're going to this other road near the airport, she took off and i had to wait for a mate who was busy. So then I'm on a mission from god trying to catch up to everyone cause i dont know where the hell this road is, luckily i do, we finally get there, and...

Race 1: STI running 17psi vs. VR4 Evo 0
VR4 just won it sounded pretty nasty, louder boost than the 17psi WRX

Race 2: Same STI vs. Same Evo 3
It was a bad night for subaru, Evo 3 won

Race 3: Same Evo 0 vs. Same Evo 3
Evo 3 got nailed, bad start i guess

Race 4: Skyline GTS-t vs. VR4
Typical Skyline 4 seconds of wheelspin, meaning 4 seconds of winning margin for the Galant

Race 5: Same Skyline vs. Some ute
The ute won, it was so far from factory spec the driver probably forgot who originally made it

Race 6: Godzilla vs. RS Legacy
Poor guy, having to go up against that Nismo Weapon, result wasn't surprising

I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple (including a possible win for the STI) but that's life. Anyway, everyone decided it would be a good idea to go back to the first road (no idea why, that road was so cop proof) and when we got there nothing happened. So we moved again to the "bust" road for some reason. Getting bored so my mate convinced me and a guy with an auto 4-door skyline gts to go head to head.

Race 7: Skyline GTS vs. Legacy N/A
I beat him from the standing start (AWD) convincingly, so we went from a roll, and i had him again, he wanted another try at the rolling start, but i still beat him. To my discredit he was doing burnouts and stuff earlier. Got bored, went home.


Saturday: Cruising around town before I headed to the drags. I took on some BMW (318i from memory) with a GT wing, when i had about 340kg worth of passengers, but by the time i hit second he barely had a car length on me, and here i was expecting to recieve my ass in the mail. Later i finally went to that cop-free road, i remember...

Race 1,2 and 3: Lancer Evo 6 vs Lancer GSR w/Evo kit
Evo 6 had 1, but the GSR got 2 and 3. Mmmmm

Race 4: Pulsar GTi-R vs. Galant VR4
The baby godzilla took it, it also won two other races but i cant remember who they were.

Race 5: Integra VTec something vs. Trueno/Levin new shape
Trueno kept up but just got edged out

Other stuff happened on Saturday but my brains running underdrive right now. Happy that stuff is finally happening again, still 30 or so cars doesn't compare to the 300 odd that used to come down most weekends and make the cops earn their paychecks. Oh well, with any luck we won't see them much and can just have some good old fashioned fun

We have a 2sp honda matic 1978 Civic at work that is totaly bog standard and has beaten a 318i.



Just remember that no road is cop proof, if they want to get you they will.
And also remember that with Meremere just down the road and meets there every weekend there really is no reason to risk racing on the streets, especialy when for only $10-20 you can get unlimited runs, no worrys about cops, and a proper time slip to tell you how fast, or in your case how slow you really are going.

Too bad none of these morons will never show to the real drags. The illegal drags has causes us performance car people so much grief! It's bad enough our bloody government is trying to not only take out ability to modify our cars away but you fuckwits have to go and start that shit again!

You notice I said "legal drags" where in the past some 200-300 cars show up. Hey we all have done things while daily driving, but you know as well as I do the major issues and drama's those drags have caused. That is what I was having a go about. I would never go to them nor would I ever support anyone who does. You want to drag race do it as mememere. FFS they run meets every single weekend. There is the Night speed wars, winter street meets, club days. What more do you need? That and the fact from auckland it is only 22 mins away!

If it weren't such a major issue my views would be different, but when the government is coming down so hard on us right with new laws after new laws even you should be able to figure that out.

Fair point about the government stuff. I'm sorry if you've got pulled over heaps or some shit, I wouldn't know what thats like seeing as my car is so f**king stock and police really dont care what I do. That might all change in a couple of weeks, hopefully not...

Actually I don't, drags are ok to watch sometimes (friday was an exception) but for the most part they bore me, I'd rather do track racing. A shame track day doesn't happen anymore. If you can point me to anything (like an open day or something) where people get to have a blast on Puke that would be sweet, you sound like someone who would know about that stuff
